Installation with a Safari Snorkel Adapter
The PowerCore 4x4 Air Cleaner Housing for the Toyota HiLux (XHLX80K) incorporates a short inlet configuration.
- Function: This inlet design intentionally creates an internal air plenum directly before the filter media pack.
- Benefit: The plenum ensures uniform air distribution, promoting consistent flow and maximizing the operational life and efficiency of the filter media.
Snorkel Adapter Compatibility
Some aftermarket snorkel inlet adaptors (e.g., the ARMAX/V-Spec adaptor) may require the adapter be trimmed by approximately 30mm to allow proper fitment.
Standard setup. No trimming required.
V-spec adaptor. This will require trimming of the adapter.
Installation
Important: Dry-fit the housing in your engine bay before trimming any rubber adapters.
Trimming the Adapter
1. Place the clamp before the cut area and tighten to use as a guide.
2. Mark the area/line for reference, leave the clamp in place
3. Using a sharp blade and lubricant, trim the adapter.
Note: Removing the adapter from the engine bay after marking it out will make it easier to get a clean cut.
Completing the Adapter Fitment
Once the necessary length reduction has been performed on the aftermarket snorkel adapter (if required), return the adapter to the vehicle.
Secure the adapter in place to complete the installation of the XHLX80K Air Cleaner Housing.
Installation Best Practice
We strongly recommend using a T-bolt clamp where possible to secure the adapter. T-bolt clamps offer superior pressure distribution and provide a more secure, reliable grip.
